Literacy

Our literacy story for this week is called Helping Out. We are learning about ways we can help out at home. We will be writing a "how to" paragraph explaining the steps of how to do something. For example, how to brush your teeth, feed the dog, feed the fish, water the plants, plant flowers, make your bed, serve yourself cereal, etc. I was surprised to hear how many kids don't have chores at home! For Wednesday night, please talk with your child about what chores they are able to do at home and how they are helpful. We are learning about how chores at home not only help out the family, but also teach us how to be responsible. At my house we use a chore chart where my kids earn points for the chores they do. Each chore is worth 10 cents, 20 cents, or 25 cents. We add up the total at the end of the week, and they receive their payment. It works well for us. What works for you?
